2010
Present: Howard,
Henk, Mark, Brendan, Tine
KM – Knysna Municipality
GR – Green Rebate
PHC – Phantom Homtimin Conservancy
CN – Cape Nature
- Howard
asked what correspondence has happened between Brendan and Municipality.
- Brendan informed that he had a positive
meeting with Grant Easton and that because of other rate payer issues
concerning the RRRA we have to be careful to keep the GR separate so it
does not get compromised.
- Howard
confirmed that according to Steve only members of the PHC will qualify for
the GR. PHC will be the guardian
of GR.
- All
GR correspondence must go through the conservancy. Outgoing mail on conservancy stationary
to avoid confusion.
- Henk
suggested that we start with the Alien Eradication process – PHC should
have plans on paper PHC will then be in a better bargaining position with
KM.
- Natalie
at CN needs to be contacted asap for assistance with eradication
plan. – (TR)
- According
to Steve KM can give us a grant to do survey of vegetation to be cleared
- Mark
suggested not to use KM because we will be indebted to KM and PHC should
rather do a plan of action with the help of CN.
- Brendan
confirmed that Farms do not qualify for the GR at present because of
existing rebate structure.
- Mark
suggested we employ a local team to do the clearing, this will become
possible when the rebate becomes effective. PHC will increase the
membership fees accordingly, resulting in a budget to support such
projects
- Henk
suggested that PHC charge a basic yearly membership fee and then a
percentage of GR to make up full membership fee.
- The
importance of subcommittees to tackle the different projects and to get
more members involved was re-inforced.
- It
was suggested that we should use the burned area’s to create viewpoints
for tourists – Mark to spec this out for PHC (MdB)
- AGM
date needs to be set – we can’t wait for GR
- Must
meet with RRRA, FPA & Farmwatch before AGM to brainstorm a
central committee date to be set (PtV)
- We
need to find out who owns Hallick’s land – apparently been sold again.
- We
need to send letter about membership fees & donation for sign – (PtV)
- A
membership Certificate was suggested
- (HvW)
- Constitution
needs to be workshopped & updated (GMcA). Mark mentioned that there should be a
clause concerning membership validity.
- PHC
should recognise people who are working to improve the area on our website
or newsletter
